Alison McKenzie - HEART OF LIFE

Alison McKenzie is appointed Director of Heart of Life, commencing mid-July 2024.

From Stephen Hackett MSC, Provincial Superior of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Australia:

Dear Friends,

As you know, in mid-April this year, Ms Clare Shearman tendered her resignation as Director of the Heart of Life Centre for Spiritual and Pastoral Formation.

The Provincial Council, meeting soon after, considered how best to deal with recruiting a new Director, mindful that an appointment would need to be finalised before the Interim Steering Committee, which has been working to identify a sustainable model for the future of Heart of Life, had submitted its report. The Council was also aware that finding a suitable appointee for the position in the middle of the year might limit the field of candidates. It was therefore agreed that we would seek to fill the position of Director for the second half of 2024, with a view to later making a longer-term appointment, to commence next January.

I am pleased to inform you that Ms Alison McKenzie has consented to serve as Director of Heart of Life for the second half of this year. I am most grateful to Alison for accepting this appointment and agreeing to temporarily relocate to Melbourne.

Alison McKenzie is well known and highly regarded in the Australian MSC Province. She has previously taught at Chevalier College in Bowral, has served as Director of the Chevalier Institute, and is currently General Secretary of the International Council of the Laity of the Chevalier Family. She is imbued with the MSC charism and the Spirituality of the Heart.

Alison will commence at Heart of Life in mid-July. Though Clare will conclude her appointment as Director, she will continue to present Heart of Life seminars during the second semester.

I know that change can sometimes be unsettling. The Provincial Council and I are confident that Alison’s appointment will help ensure stability and continuity at Heart of Life.

With every good wish,
Yours in the Heart of Jesus,

Stephen Hackett MSC

We look forward to welcoming Alison to Melbourne.
